The 2021 IBCA Clinic is a two-part event with a virtual portion already posted online and an in-person portion on Oct. 16 at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis. The 2022 IBCA Clinic is planned for April 22-23, also at Lawrence North.

The Indiana High School Basketball Record Book has statistics on nearly every high school boys’ basketball program in the state of Indiana – 400-plus overall.

In order for a player from your school to be eligible for selection to an IBCA All-State Team, the IBCA Academic All-State Team or to win a Marion Crawley, Junior Mannies or Pat Aikman scholarship award, you must be a current-year-member of the IBCA.

IBCA All-State teams for 2021-22  
The IBCA will choose all-state teams in four general categories in 2021-22 – Senior Boys, Underclass Boys, Senior Girls and Underclass Girls. Within each category, four groups of honorees will be selected.

The IBCA Challenge Cup  
The IBCA calendar will not include a Challenge Cup event for 2021-22. IBCA officials will determine over the next year whether to resume the event for the 2022-23 season.

January once again has been designated as “Coaches vs. Cancer” month by the IBCA for high school basketball in Indiana.

From the beginning of last season through late September 2021, 148 people have been hired as new varsity basketball coaches in Indiana for the 2021-22 season.

Initial-eligibility requirements for college-bound student-athletes  
Many high school athletes aspire to one day compete in college athletics. Academic performance at the high school level is often an early question that college coaches ask about when considering a prospect from the high school level.

Thanks to everyone who made the 2021 All-Star events a success. For 2022, game dates are set for June 8 (Junior-Senior exhibition), June 10 in Owensboro (Indiana at Kentucky) and June 11 at Southport (Indiana vs. Kentucky).

Liability insurance coverage at $2 million again in 2021-22  
As a membership benefit, coverage is provided by the Commercial General Liability Policy issued to the National Organization of Coaches Association Directors. This policy will protect the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association and its active members.

The IBCA is continuing its Mentoring Program in the 2021-22 season. The program was started in 2019-20, and the effort was upgraded in 2020-21.

NFHS rule changes: State option added to permit use of Shot Clock in 2022-23  
Effective with 2022-23 program year, state associations may utilize a 35-second shot clock; other rule modifications for 2021-22 deal with religious head coverings and a change in an official's signal.

HBM Top 60 Senior Workouts, held in conjunction with the IBCA and IHSAA, are set for 2022 as follows -- girls: March 6 at Beech Grove High School; and boys: March 27 at Marian University.
