The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame offers its best wishes to all Indiana high school basketball teams for the 2021-22 season. We believe we have strong fields for the 2021 Raymond James Hall of Fame Classic tournaments and look forward to those events.
This season, the girls’ tournament will be Wednesday, Dec. 29. Westfield will meet Franklin at 11 a.m., and Washington faces South Bend Washington in the second game. The third-place game is at 6 p.m. with the championship game to follow.
The boys’ tournament will be Thursday, Dec. 30. Westfield faces Connersville in the opener, and Homestead meets Cathedral in the second game. Again, the third-place game is at 6 p.m. with the championship game to follow.
Other upcoming key events are the delayed 2021 induction banquets -- Oct. 9 for men and Oct. 30 for women. The 2022 induction banquets are scheduled for March 23 for men and April 30 for women.
Basketball has played an important role in the lives of many Hoosiers, and Indiana was the first state to have a facility dedicated strictly to high school basketball – the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame museum in New Castle. From the “Coach Wooden locker room talk” to the “Hoosier Hardwood photo exhibit,” each year we receive praise from our visitors, from Indiana and beyond.
In the past year, focusing on helping others, the Hall of Fame awarded several college scholarships and supported projects and needs in the Indiana basketball community with funds from our Benevolence Fund.
Over the last 18 months, more than $325,000 in upgrades have been made to the museum that was opened in 1990, including a dozen new digital monitors incorporated into six new exhibit offerings, updated flooring, a new elevator, updated LED lighting, an updated HVAC system and renovated office spaces. This all was possible because of a six-figure gift from the estate of Ron and Charlotte Warwick. A public campaign raised nearly $150,000 in addition to the estate gift, and the Hall of Fame board officially named the project “The Ron and Charlotte Warwick Legends Project.”
“Many would assume the largest gift in the museum’s history would be made by a wealthy basketball player or coach,” Hall of Fame executive director Chris May said last spring when news of the Warwicks’ gift was publicly announced. “It’s quite incredible that this gift was donated by a couple who simply loved and admired Indiana basketball.”
Currently, the Hall of Fame is seeking people to contribute to its annual Membership Program. Those who are Annual Members receive quarterly copies of the Indiana Basketball History Magazine, receive free admission to the museum (for themselves and three guests), receive a 20 percent discount in the Hall of Fame Gift Shop, receive invitations to the inductee receptions and other special events, have their name in a display in the lobby of the museum, and have their name listed in the History Magazine and Awards Banquet programs.
The Hall’s annual Membership Program allows individuals to be part of the team that sustains our museum as one of the finest basketball museums in the world. The regular fee for the annual Membership Program is $100. For active IBCA member coaches, you are offered the same perks for an annual Membership Fee of just $25 – a 75% discount off the regular fee. We encourage all IBCA-member coaches to take advantage of this opportunity as a 2022 annual member.

The Hall of Fame hopes you will join us as we continue to celebrate the history, tradition, and memories of basketball in our state, while educating and cultivating the next generation of Indiana basketball fans.
