The IBCA calendar will not include a Challenge Cup event for 2021-22. Last season’s event was converted to an Indiana-only event with teams from northern Indiana facing teams from southern Indiana. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event ultimately was canceled.
The event is suspended for the 2021-22 season. IBCA officials will determine over the next year whether to resume the event (and, if yes, in what format and at what site) for the 2022-23 season.
In the seven seasons that the Challenge Cup was played in an Indiana vs. Kentucky format, the event raised about $30,000 for various charities, including the Wounded Warrior Program, the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame and the Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame.
