IBCA again ‘paperless’ for 2018-19
Instead of two hard-copy mailings each year, coaches now will be reminded by e-mail to join the IBCA in an online process. In addition, coaches will be reminded to look online for the annual membership form and various nomination forms, scholarship forms, ballots and honors for various IBCA programs.

In order for a player from your school to be eligible for selection to an IBCA All-State Team, the IBCA Academic All-State Team or to win a Marion Crawley, Junior Mannies or Pat Aikman scholarship award, you must be a current-year-member of the IBCA.

IBCA All-State teams for 2018-19
The IBCA will choose all-state teams in four general categories in 2018-19 – Senior Boys, Underclass Boys, Senior Girls and Underclass Girls. Within each category, four groups of honorees will be selected.

The sixth Challenge Cup will be Jan. 5 at the New Castle Fieldhouse. Teams representing Indiana are the Northwestern girls plus boys teams from North Daviess, Heritage Hills, Silver Creek and Huntington North.

In the first 11 years of this initiative, boys’ and girls’ coaches across Indiana have raised more than $950,000. In 2017-18 coaches, teams and communities that reported raised more than $63,000.

2018-19 new coaches
From the beginning of last season through late September 2018, 170 people have been hired as new varsity basketball coaches in Indiana high schools – 82 to boys’ basketball positions and 88 to girls’ basketball positions – for the 2018-19 season.

All-Star report
The 2018 All-Star crowd at Bankers Life Fieldhouse was the best one in more than a decade with 8,266 as the evening’s attendance. Both Indiana All-Star teams split with Kentucky. The girls lost 92-87 at Bellarmine but bounced back to prevail 83-70 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The boys fell 100-89 at Bellarmine but rebounded for a 109-81 triumph at the Fieldhouse.
