Some of the top players with returning high school eligibility in the state participated in the 16th annual Boys' and Girls' IBCA/IHSAA Underclass Showcase events. The IBCA would like to thank the IHSAA, McDonald's, Gatorade, Champion, BSN Sports (Dan Repass and Bob Kizer) and the IHSAA basketball officials who called the scrimmages and all the high school coaches for their support in making these Showcase events successful.
For 2019, these events have been scheduled for June 22 (boys) and July 15 (girls) at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis. The exact schedule for the 2019 events will be announced later. Be watching for the 2019 timeline for the nomination and selection of participants for the 17th annual Underclass Showcase events.
The 2019 Boys Showcase has been moved to June 22 in order to take advantage of a new NCAA rule that allows Division I coaches to attend “scholastic events” on the final two weekends in June. Thus, the Boys Showcase has been moved to a date to fit this new rule and offer Indiana players enhanced exposure.
In addition, on the weekend of June 28-30, the IBCA plans to offer a school-team tournament to again take advantage of this opportunity to spotlight Indiana players within the “scholastic event” recruiting calendar. Look for more information about this new event later.
The 2019 Girls Showcase remains in July in the corresponding date to last year because the summer portion of NCAA women’s recruiting calendar has not been altered.
