NFHS Coach of the Year nominees

Scott Heady of Carmel and David Miller of Fort Wayne Concordia have been chosen as Indiana’s nominees for the National Federation of State High School Associations national basketball coaches of the year.

Heady, a graduate of Shenandoah High School and the University of Indianapolis, guided the Greyhounds to a 23-4 record and the Class 4A state championship in 2011-12. He also was an IBCA District 2 Coach of the Year and was chosen as head coach of the 2012 Indiana Boys Junior All-Stars.

Heady’s career record in 17 seasons as a high school head coach is 249-144. He previously coached at Connersville and Warren Central.

Miller guided Fort Wayne Concordia to a 21-5 record and the Class 3A state championship in 2011-12. The state title was the Cadets’ second in three seasons, joining a crown in 2010. His 2010-11 squad advanced to the semistate before falling.

Miller has a 145-66 record in nine seasons at Concordia. His career record is 325-158 in 22 seasons. He previously coached at Bellmont for 13 seasons. Miller is a graduate of Bellmont High School and Concordia University in Seward, Neb.
