Indiana Basketball Hall of FameBy Chris May |

As the season approaches, the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame wishes each of you the best in the 2010-11 season. In the past year we have been a part of the celebration of the 100th year of the Indiana high school basketball tournament, brought back Bob Knight for a fund-raising dinner, inducted our latest classes of Hall of Famers and conducted many other activities to celebrate the rich tradition of Indiana basketball. I am sure this will be another outstanding season of high school hoops, and all at the Hall extend best wishes to you and your staff. An event to mark on your calendar is the 2010 City Securities Hall of Fame Classic. Please take note of the schedule below. The games take place Wednesday, December 29 and Thursday, December 30, 2010, at the world’s largest and finest high school fieldhouse in New Castle. 27th City Securities Girls' Hall of Fame Classic – Wednesday, December 29, 2010 11:00 a.m. (ET) - Jeffersonville vs. Brownsburg 34th City Securities Boys' Hall of Fame Classic – Thursday, December 30, 2010 11:00 a.m. (ET) - Washington vs. Center Grove Tickets are available in advance from the participating schools for $10 per day. Tickets purchased at the door will be $10 per session. Coaches interested in bringing their team to the tournament should contact me (contact info in the last paragraph) for a discounted rate. The tournament features some of the best competition from the state and is a great opportunity to bring your team for a day of basketball. The Hall of Fame museum, the only statewide high school basketball museum in the country, is another great opportunity for a team outing. Many of our memorabilia displays were re-decorated this summer and we have added new features including a special display on the Butler Bulldogs' NCAA Tournament run in 2010. As a team-building trip, to build excitement for the season or for a mid-season history lesson, we offer an affordable option for teams -- $1 per player with coaches free. Keep in mind that no player on your roster this year had been born when Damon Bailey played his final high school game in 1990. The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame is a true history lesson that all current players could use. The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame continued to add to our membership last year with a special offer to IBCA members. Coming again this year, we encourage you to support the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame by becoming an Active Coach member for $25. This is a savings of 75 percent off of our typical rate and gives you the same benefits as a regular member. I hope you’ll enjoy some of our numerous activities with the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame this year. We appreciate your support as we celebrate the history, tradition and memories of basketball in our state while educating and cultivating the next generation of Indiana basketball fans.
