Welcome from the president

NOTE: Kaley May wrote the welcome note for the 2026-27 below. However, she stepped down as IBCA president on Oct. 1 to accept a position with the NCAA as Assistant Director of Championships for Women’s Basketball. Thus, president-elect Jason Simpson of Greensburg is moving into the role of president from now until July 31, 2029. And Don Carlisle of Ben Davis is stepping into the role of president-elect, also from now until July 31, 2029.

Kaley MayWelcome to a new season with the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association!

As I begin my first year serving as President of the IBCA, I am grateful for the opportunity to lead an organization that means so much to basketball in our state. I also want to thank our Past President, Michael Adams, for his leadership and dedication to the IBCA. Michael did an outstanding job leading this organization, and I know I have some big shoes to fill.

Our association is built on the passion, commitment and camaraderie of coaches who care deeply about the game and, most importantly, the athletes we have the privilege to serve. As we look ahead to another season, we will continue working to grow, improve and be the best coaches association in the nation. I am excited about what lies ahead and honored to be on this journey with all of you.

Here’s to another great season of Indiana basketball!

Jason SimpsonThe IBCA is here for you. Last year, coaches from 92 percent of teams were members – outstanding! Our goal this year is 100 percent. Please register your entire staff and explore the benefits, including $2 million liability insurance, access to player honors as well as leadership resources. Don’t forget to check the IBCA Calendar and respond to surveys so we can keep improving.

Programs and Opportunities

The IBCA offers a number of programs and opportunities.

  • Preseason Watch List – Recognize top players in your area for greater exposure.
  • Mental Training Program – Grow as a coach and leader.
  • Aspiring Head Coaches Program – Preparing assistant coaches for head coaching success.
  • Coaches Mentor Program – Veteran coaches work with and guide first-year head coaches.

Record Book milestone (please help promote both books)

Please help us promote the IBCA annual Record Books. The boys’ book with be the 48th edition in 2027. The girls’ book will be the second edition in 2027. Again, please help us promote both the boys’ and girls’ books by sharing the flyer at your home games, on social media or on your video board. Events & Exposure

This summer’s IBCA/IHSAA Top 100 Showcase events, the Indiana All-Star events and the IBCA/IHSAA Team Showcase in memory of Charlie Hughes events drew outstanding numbers, including very good college coach attendance. Feedback was clear – nobody does high school basketball like Indiana. In the summer of 2027, the IBCA is planning a second IBCA/IHSAA Boys’ Team Showcase.

Stay Connected

Communication is vital. Please reach out to your IBCA district reps (listed on our website) with questions or concerns.
