Underclass Showcase events are set for June 18 (girls) and June 19 (boys). In addition, the boys’ Summer Team Tournament is planned for June 25-27. However, this schedule could change, pending results of an NCAA meeting later in April 2021.
Returning for 2021: ‘Underclass Showcase’ events for boys and girls
The 19th annual IBCA/IHSAA Underclass Showcase events (also known as “The Top 100”) are set for June 18 for girls and June 19 for boys, both at Ben Davis High School. These are “individual events,” and players featured are rising seniors, juniors and sophomores for 2021-22.
The IBCA/IHSAA Girls’ Basketball Underclass Showcase is scheduled at Ben Davis High School on Friday, June 18. The IBCA/IHSAA Boys’ Basketball Underclass Showcase is scheduled at Ben Davis High School on Saturday, June 19. Registration for both events will be at 1:30 p.m., and both events will begin at 2 p.m.
All IBCA coaches will be admitted free to both events by displaying a current IBCA membership card.
Lists of players expected to participate in these events should be released publicly about three weeks before each event.
Pending NCAA calendar approval: ‘Summer Team Tournament’ for boys
The IBCA/IHSAA has planned to host a scholastic team event for boys’ teams for the second time in 2021 after the event was canceled in 2020 – the IBCA/IHSAA Team Showcase in memory of Charlie Hughes.
It is planned for June 25-26-27, pending the NCAA approving these dates as a “scholastic weekend” at a meeting later in April. Providing the dates are approved, more information will be announced at that time.
There NCAA does not have a corresponding time for women’s prospects. If the NCAA creates a June evaluation period for women’s prospects in the future, the IBCA may add a Summer Team Tournament for girls to its offerings at that time.
