Sixty of Indiana’s best class of 2020 senior boys’ and senior girls’ high school players were invited to participate in Hoosier Basketball’s 2020 Top 60 Senior Workouts held annually in conjunction with the IHSAA and the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.
The 39th annual Girls’ Top 60 Senior Workout was held at Heritage Christian School on Sunday, March 8. The 33rd annual Boys’ Top 60 Senior Workout was to have occurred on Sunday, March 29 at Marian University. However, the Boys’ Top 60 Senior Workout has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic (and ultimately may be canceled for this year).
The Girls’ Top 60 Senior Workouts began at 1 p.m. and included two sessions – 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Both workouts were coordinated by Hoosier Basketball Magazine publisher/editor Kip Wesner. Seven-time state championship coach Rick Risinger of Heritage Christian served as on-court director of the 2020 Girls’ Top 60 Senior Workout, assisted by IBCA-member coaches. IBCA-member coaches also were to conduct the Boys’ Top 60 Senior Workout led by on-court director Steve Lynch of Brownsburg.
These workouts give the state’s outstanding seniors a chance to meet and compete as well as afford college coaches an opportunity to observe them against top-quality competition.
While not a tryout for the Indiana All-Star team, these events afford Indiana All-Star game director Mike Broughton and his Indiana All-Star coaches (boys and girls) the opportunity to observe the state’s best senior players against each other.
