These are extraordinary times we are experiencing with the COVID-19 pandemic. About the time in your life when you feel you have seen it all, then something like this happens.
There is a great deal of uncertainty about how long this health crisis will last. Basketball seems rather insignificant compared to the life-and-death decisions that have been made to fight the spread of this virus.
Players and coaches have sacrificed a great deal. In the game of basketball, players and coaches always have understood the concept of sacrifice. It can mean the difference between winning and losing. In the game of life, sacrifice during this health crisis could mean the difference between life and death.
School is not in session, the final three rounds of the state boys’ basketball tournament has been canceled and the IBCA Coaches Clinic has been postponed. It remains to be seen what the status will be for the Indiana-Kentucky All-Star Games, the All-Star Shootout, the IBCA/IHSAA Underclass Showcases and the IBCA/IHSAA Team Showcase.
Your coaches’ organization will support and follow the medical emergency guidelines, but we also will continue to plan as if these scheduled events will happen. In moving forward, if further adjustments in the events schedule need to be made, you will be notified.
In the meantime, please stay safe, take care of yourself and the health of your family. By pulling together and following health emergency guidelines, we all will get through this difficult time. There will be better days ahead.
Best wishes.
