By Kip Wesner

Kip WesnerHoosier Basketball Magazine announces that the 31st annual North/South Indiana All-Star Classic presented by McDonald’s of Indiana will be held Saturday, April 6, at the John R. Wooden Gymnasium in Martinsville.

Forty-eight of Indiana’s best boys’ and girls’ senior players will participate in this annual statewide doubleheader. The girls’ game starts at 1 p.m. with the boys’ game to follow at 3 p.m. The North/South Indiana All-Star Classic presented by McDonald’s of Indiana is sponsored in part by Martinsville High School and Pacesetter Sports in Terre Haute.

Girls competing in the first half of this doubleheader include nine players who have been named to the 2019 Indiana All-Star team. They include Indiana University recruit Jorie Allen of Bedford North Lawrence and Shaila Beeler of Warren Central, Ohio State-signee Rikki Harris of North Central, Ball State-bound Sydney Freeman of Central Noble. Another notable is IU-bound Grace Waggoner of Vincennes Rivet.

The boys’ game includes 11 players who were featured on the cover of the 2018-19 issue of Hoosier Basketball Magazine. Among them are IU signees Tracy Jackson Davis of Center Grove and Armaan Franklin of Cathedral as well as Purdue recruits Brandon Newman of Valparaiso, Isaiah Thompson of Zionsville and Mason Gillis of New Castle (an honorary player because of injury). Others in the game include Jalen Windham of Ben Davis, Zane Gross of Silver Creek, Ethan Brittain-Watts of Culver Academy and Gabe Gladish of Barr-Reeve.

The 2019 Classic game director is Martinsville athletic director Kip Staggs. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased by calling (765) 342-5571.
