Returning for 2019: ‘Underclass Showcase’ events for boys and girls
The 17th annual IBCA/IHSAA Underclass Showcase events (also known as “The Top 100”) will be June 22 for boys and July 15 for girls, both at Ben Davis High School.
These are “individual events,” and players featured are rising seniors, juniors and sophomores for 2019-2020.
The IBCA/IHSAA Boys’ Basketball Underclass Showcase will be held at Ben Davis High School on Saturday, June 22. The IBCA/IHSAA Girls’ Basketball Underclass Showcase will be held at Ben Davis High School on Monday, July 15. Registration for both events will be at 1:30 p.m., and both events will begin at 2 p.m.
The boys’ Showcase has been moved to June to take advantage of the NCAA’s new “scholastic event evaluation period” in June for men’s prospects.
The girls’ Showcase for this year is staying at its traditional July date.
All IBCA coaches will be admitted free to both events by displaying a current IBCA membership card.
Lists of players expected to participate in these events should be released publically about three weeks before each event.
New for 2019: ‘Summer Team Tournament’ for boys
A new IBCA/IHSAA event for boys this year will be a Summer Team Tournament on June 28-29-30. The IBCA and IHSAA are holding this event in conjunction with the organizers of the Charlie Hughes Shootout, which has been an existing summer team tournament for several years. Carmel High School is the primary site for this event. This event is being added to the IBCA calendar to also take advantage of the NCAA’s new “scholastic event evaluation period” in June for men’s prospects.
There is no corresponding event for girls in 2019. If the NCAA creates a June evaluation period for women’s prospects in the future, the IBCA may add a Summer Team Tournament for girls to its offerings at that time.
