Congratulations to the Roy Gardner Award Winner: Mike Eason
Mike Eason of Cumberland is the winner of the 2019 Roy Gardner Award.
Eason is a 1982 graduate of South Newton High School, where he played football, basketball and baseball. He attended Ball State University and graduated in 1987.
He started his officiating career during the 1991-92 basketball season. Over 27 years, Eason has had the opportunity to work four boys’ basketball State Finals (2006, 2009, 2012 and 2017) and four girls’ basketball State Finals (2007, 2010, 2013 and 2016). He also is a football official and officiated the 2015 Class 5A football State Finals.
Eason is a member of the Indiana Officials Association. He currently is a board member and previously served as the treasurer of the association. He credits his success to the great group of officials he has worked with and learned from over the years.
Professionally, Eason has worked in the finance and banking industry his entire career. He currently is a mortgage loan officer for Indiana Members Credit Union. His hobbies include golf and supporting his favorite sports teams, the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.
Eason and his wife, Susie, have two children – Aaron, 19, and Kamryn, 16. Mike also has another daughter, Erica, 26.
