The IBCA calendar in 2016-17 again will include the Indiana-Kentucky Challenge Cup, a five-game event between teams from Indiana and Kentucky.
The fourth Challenge Cup will be Jan. 7 at New Castle Fieldhouse. Teams representing Indiana are Greenfield-Central (girls), West Washington (boys), Cloverdale (boys), Oak Hill (boys) and Connersville (boys).
The event is being coordinated by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association and the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches.
The schedule for the day is:
- Girls: Greenfield-Central vs. Mason County, Ky., 11 a.m.
- Boys: West Washington vs. Bardstown, Ky., about 1 p.m.
- Boys: Cloverdale vs. Franklin County, Ky., about 3 p.m.

Kentucky has won all previous events – 4-1 in 2014 in Louisville’s Freedom Hall, 3-2 in 2015 in the New Castle Fieldhouse and 3-2 in 2016 in the Frankfort (Ky.) Convention Central. In three years, the event has raised about $22,000 for charities, including the Wounded Warrior Program as well as the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame and the Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame.
Admission is $10.00 per person for the entire day of games. Military service veterans and their immediate families will be admitted at no charge. Tickets will be available from participating schools or on game day at New Castle Fieldhouse.
A best-of-five-game format will determine the winner of the 2017 Challenge Cup. The 10 participating teams feature multiple NCAA Division I prospects. Proceeds from the 2017 event again will go to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame and the Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame.
Plans are for this event to be hosted at a Kentucky site in January 2018.
