Boys
Class 4A:Jason Delaney, Indianapolis Tech. Delaney led the Titans to the Class 4A state championship with a 63-59 victory over Lake Central. Delaney's teams are 64-12 during his tenure at Tech, including a 27-2 mark in 2013-14. In 10 seasons as a head coach, his career record is 145-90. Delaney is a 1995 graduate of Lafayette Central Catholic and a 2001 graduate of Ball State University. He previously was a head coach at Waldron for one year (winning a Class A state title), Southport for four seasons, Anderson Highland for one season and Indianapolis Washington for one season. He also served as an assistant coach at Muncie Burris.
Class 3A:Stacy Meyer, Greensburg. Meyer guided the Pirates to a 28-1 season, including an 89-76 win over Bowman Academy for the 3A state title. Meyer has a record of 146-48 in eight seasons at Greensburg and is 204-104 in 13 seasons as a head coach. A graduate of Greensburg and Hanover College, he previously was head coach at Southwestern (Shelby) and Whiteland.
Class 2A:Kyle Cox, Park Tudor. Cox directed the Panthers to a 24-4 record and the Class 2A title in his first season as a head coach, beating Westview 84-57 in the final. Cox is a 2002 graduate of Blue River Valley High School and a 2006 graduate of Ball State University. He was an assistant coach for two years at BRV, one year at Winchester and four years at Park Tudor before becoming the Panthers’ head coach. Cox participated in the State Finals as a player in 2001 and also as an assistant coach in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
Class A:Donovan Garletts, Marquette Catholic. Garletts guided the Blazers to a 20-6 season, including a 70-66 victory over Barr-Reeve in overtime for the Class A championship. Garletts has a 55-38 in four seasons at Marquette Catholic. He is a 2005 graduate of Crown Point High School and a 2008 graduate of Indiana University. He previoiusly was an assistant coach at Bloomington South for three seasons and was a part of its staff when it won the 4A title in 2009.
Girls
Class 4A:Damon Bailey, Bedford North Lawrence. Bailey directed the Lady Stars to a 27-1 record in his only season as head coach, capped by a 51-41 victory over Penn for the 4A championship. He resigned his position at the end of the season to become a women’s basketball assistant coach at Butler University. Bailey was a legendary player, leading BNL to the 1990 boys’ state title and setting the state’s all-time scoring record with 3,134 points. He was an All-American player at Indiana University and played professionally for several years. He started his coaching career as the BNL boys’ head coach, compiling a 23-19 mark in two seasons. He returned to the BNL bench as a girls’ basketball assistant for four seasons prior to taking over as head coach in 2013-14.
Class 3A:Chris Keisling, Western. Keisling guided the Panthers to a 23-3 season, including a 38-35 decision over Evansville Mater Dei for the 3A state title. He compiled a 61-15 record in three seasons at Western, stepping down from coaching at the conclusion of the season. He previously was a boys basketball head coach at Tri-County (1991-95) and Northfield (1995-98) and owns a boys-girls combined career mark of 146-62. Keisling is a 1982 graduate of North Miami High School and a 1985 graduate of Ball State University. He started his coaching career as a boys basketball assistant at Eastern (Greentown) for one year and Delta for two years.
Class 2A:Rick Risinger, Heritage Christian. Risinger has coached the Eagles for nine seasons, including a 27-1 mark in 2013-14 and a 64-61 win over Fort Wayne Canterbury for the 2A state crown. He has a career record of 203-37, including previous 2A state titles in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. Risinger was an Indiana All-Star player in 1969 for Richmond High School, then played four years of basketball at Purdue. He became coach at Heritage Christian in 2005 and the Eagles have won seven sectionals, six regionals, five semistate and five state titles during his tenure.
Class A:Terry Minix, Oregon-Davis. Minix directed the Bobcats to a 23-2 season, including a 69-64 victory over Vincennes Rivet for the Class A state championship. Minix has coached Oregon-Davis for 21 seasons, compiling a 313-146 during his tenure that includes eight sectionals, two regionals, two semistates and two state titles. The previous state win came in 2007. Minix is a 1980 graduate of Oregon-Davis and attended Bethel College in Mishawaka, where he played basketball for three seasons. He was an OD assistant coach for two seasons before becoming the Bobcats’ head coach.
