The IBCA thanks our sponsors:

From The Coaches’ Box

By Mike Hackett

Mike HackettWelcome back to what we know will be another exciting season. We are certain everyone’s offseason was busy. We hope that you also took some time to relax, reflect and energize for the upcoming season.

The IBCA traditions and goals always have high expectations. We look forward to working together as an organization to continue promoting Indiana high school basketball. Our organization continues to take on more and more to provide our student-athletes the best opportunities to showcase their talents and our game.

Please take care of your membership. Membership runs from October to October each year. We would like to see 100 percent membership from our head coaches. Your membership not only benefits you as a coach, but it also allows your athletes to be eligible for scholarships and awards. Please consider registering your entire staff. We want to have one of the largest organizations in the country. Use the IBCA website and check out the more than 20 benefits of being a member.

The IBCA is extremely fortunate in these economic times to have the amount of sponsorships that we have make contributions to our organization. BSN Sports, Pacers Sports & Entertainment, Best Choice Fieldhouse and others continue to support our organization in many capacities.

We also encourage all coaches to participate in the Subway Player of the Week program by sending nominations each week to Pat McKee. Subway Restaurants of Indiana have been a generous sponsor with this program. Subway also has supported our IBCA All-State teams the past two years and provided IBCA Clinic meal for the past several years.

We appreciate everything that our sponsors do for us. A full list of sponsors is located on our website.

The responsibilities of the term “coach” go far beyond winning games. The impact and influence we have on shaping and molding young athletes into men and women are as important as ever. We need to take that responsibility very seriously while we are helping these young people to become good citizens through the game of basketball.

Finally, I’m excited, proud and honored to begin my term to serve as your president. Our Executive Board and District Representatives are here for you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if there is any way we can help.

Good luck to you this season, and we wish you the best on and off the court.

Mike Hackett
