Indiana to participate in National Rising Senior Academy

The National High School Basketball Coaches Association will sponsor a National Rising Senior Academy on July 13, 14 and 15 at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis. Various states across the nation will be selecting teams of juniors from their states to participate in this event.

This event is supported by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

Besides games, there will be a skills development component as well as an educational component that will cover topics such as the recruiting process, leadership and sportsmanship.

These speakers addressed the players in 2013 – David Ginsberg, NHSBCA, Executive Director; Ira Childress, Childress Sports Consulting; Bob Lovell, Indiana Sports Talk host, former college coach, author; Clark Kellogg, former NBA player, CBS college basketball analyst and Indiana Pacers vice president.

Last year’s inaugural event included boys’ teams from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Ohio and Wisconsin. This year, there are hopes for as many as 12 boys’ teams and four to six girls’ teams.

Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio, Kentucky and Washington are confirmed for boys. New York, Illinois, North Carolina and other states have expressed interest for boys.

Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin and Kentucky appear interested for girls.

May 1 is the deadline for states to confirm their intentions.

Look for more info about this event as we get closer to the date of the competition.
