As we look forward to the 2010 All-Star games with Kentucky I’d like to again thank everyone for their great work. As I’ve said before I have the easiest hard job around. We have so much in the way of great talent it is very easy when it comes to filling out the roster. Only having room for 26 players is the difficult part.
I’m not a big fan of being the judge and jury so I thought I’d let you know how I’m going about the selection. I have asked for and received tapes on over sixty players. Many current and retired coaches around the state scout prospective players and provide feedback to me. I will observe the Hoosier Basketball Top 60 workouts and of course do live scouting. Another great help is listening to the discussion among the 22 coaches representing the different areas of the state at the IBCA All-State selection process. Finally, I will also sit down with the All-Star coaching staffs and try to fill out a team that will represent you and our state well. Steve Witty may have said it best when he said that this is a selection process not a rejection one. Again thanks for all you do with our student athletes.
With the IBCA and Steve’s help we are going to expand the IBCA Indianapolis Star All-Star Game Day Shootout to include the middle schools. This should add to last year’s very successful shootout and hopefully create a great program enhancement for the participants. (After we expand the shootout we may want to shorten the title.)
The IBCA, the All-Stars, and the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame are all in the same business. We are trying to promote a great game. Steve and Chris May do a great job and I really appreciate their efforts and cooperation. Again, thank you for all the great work you’re doing with your student athletes.
Sincerely,
Charlie Hall
