Larry Nixon

Larry NixonLarry became a licensed official in 1971. In his first year he officiated fifth and sixth grade girls’ recreational basketball in Danville, Ill. The next five years he officiated junior high, freshman and junior varsity to gain experience and learn from his fellow officials. He became a member of the Western Indiana Officials Association where he gained the necessary knowledge and experience to get to the varsity level and eventually the state finals.

During his career he has worked 30 sectionals, 28 regionals, eight semi-states and four state finals. He also officiated 10 regional tournaments in the state of Illinois and 15 years of Junior College Basketball culminating with the National finals at Eastern Illinois. Larry also officiates football and umpires baseball and states that his officiating career has been a very rewarding and valuable experience that he will cherish for the rest of his lifetime. Congratulations Larry. You have had an outstanding career.
