Jerry Hoover
Logansport - District I
Jerry has over 40 years of coaching experience at the high school and college levels. He is the only coach in Indiana high school history to turn losing programs into winning programs at seven different schools. They include Ben Davis, Lake Central, North Judson and Salem. This past season he led the Logansport girls' team to two Holiday Tournament Championships and a 21-2 record. For the past 22 years Hoover has been the Director of the D 1 Camps that have grown from 80 players in the first year to over 3500 today. Congratulations Jerry on a successful career.
Gene Johnson
Jimtown - District I
Coach Johnson is a 1976 Ball State graduate. He has been a head girls' coach for 28 years. Before that he was the boys’ JV coach at Jimtown for four years. In 1986 he coached Miss Basketball, Kim Barrier. The Jimmies have won five straight NSC Conference Championships. In 2007 the Jimmies were state runner-up and regional runner-up in 2008. The past four years Coach Johnson has led the Jimmies to an 81-12 record. During the past three years, a span of 66 games, the Jimmies have led the state in scoring defense giving up on 29.2 points per game. Coach Johnson will speak on the high flex offense.
Kurt Ogden
Hamilton Heights - District II
In 1985 Coach Ogden began his coaching career as the seventh grade boys' basketball coach at Tipton High School. During the 1994-95 basketball season he was on Hall of Fame coach Larry Angle‘s staff as the JV coach before becoming the varsity girls coach in 1997. After four sectional runner-up finishes, he led the Tipton girls to a regional championship during the 2000-2001 season. In 2006, Ogden became the girls' coach at Hamilton Heights and has led the Huskies to two conference championships. This past season Hamilton Heights won the Huntington North Holiday Tournament, was sectional runner-up and finished the season 20-2, a school record. Great job, Coach!
Jason Snyder
Kokomo - District II
Coach Snyder played his high school basketball at Kokomo for Basil Mawbey. Before becoming a varsity coach, Snyder was an assistant for Tom McKinney at Bloomington North as well as Mike Wade and Charlie Hall at Kokomo. As an assistant with these four coaches who have won over 1200 games Snyder was well prepared to become a varsity coach. Coach Snyder has been the Kokomo Girls' basketball head coach for the past four seasons. In those years he has compiled a record of 52-27, winning two North Central Conferences Championships, a 4A sectional championship and making one Elite 8 appearance. He has had seven girls receive college basketball scholarships and his teams have earned the reputation for being a hard working, blue collar type team that plays physical and aggressive defense. Congratulations coach, for another outstanding season.
Melissa Marlow
Rushville - District III
Melissa Marlow recently completed her 10th season as head basketball coach at Rushville Consolidated High School. Her career record is 137-97. The 2009-2010 team finished the season ranked #1 in the ICGSA 3A poll as well as #5 in the IBCA single class poll. Their final record overall was 25-3. In her 10 years, the Lady Lions have six sectionals (04,05,06,08,09,10) and two regionals (06,10). Her teams have also won three Hoosier Heritage Conference Championships (04,06,10). The Lady Lions also captured the 2009 City Securities Hall of Fame Classic with victories over Mooresville and Jay County.
Melissa has been named Hoosier Heritage Conference Coach of the Year twice (04,06). Melissa was selected Hoosier Basketball Coaches Association District 3 Coach of the Year in 2009. She was selected to serve as an assistant coach for the Indiana Junior All-Stars in 2008. She also served as a coach at the Hoosier Basketball Top 40 workout in 2006. Melissa has twice served as a coach at the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Top 100 Underclassmen Showcase(08,09). Melissa currently serves as a District 3 Representative on the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Board of Directors and will be the head coach for the 2010 Indiana All Stars against Kentucky.
Melissa graduated from Rushville Consolidated High School in 1988. She was a four year letter winner in basketball and was a member of the 1985 Rushville Final Four team. She went on to Florida Southern College where she graduated with a B.S. in Biology. She then received her B.S. in Nursing at Indiana University. Melissa is married to Doug Marlow and they have a five year old daughter-Annika. Coach, congratulations on an outstanding season and good luck leading the Indiana girls' All Stars against Kentucky.
Joe Voelker
Floyd Central - District III
Joe Voelker has been the varsity Girls' Basketball Coach at Floyd Central High School in Floyds Knobs, Indiana for the past eight seasons. With his direction the team twice set school records for victories in a season winning 20 games in 2008-2009 and then 25 in 2009-2010. He has coached three Hoosier Basketball Top-40 players during his time at Floyd Central and won sectional and regional titles in 2010. He is also the career wins' leader for Floyd Central girls’ basketball with 116. Prior to his stint at Floyd Central, he was the head coach at Presentation Academy in Louisville, Kentucky. His teams won regional titles in 1999, 2000 and 2001 with Elite 8 finishes in 1999 and 2000. He also had one player receive the honor of representing the Kentucky team in its annual all-star series with Indiana. During his 15 year varsity coaching career Voelker is 251-134.
