Chris Johnson

Homestead - District I

Chris JohnsonCoach Chris Johnson, a 1988 graduate of Ball State University, is in his 11th season as the head coach at Homestead High School in Fort Wayne. The 2009-2010 season has marked his 16th season overall. Prior to his arrival at Homestead, Coach Johnson served as head coach at Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger from 1994 thru 1999. During his tenure, Coach Johnson has won four conference championships, three sectionals, and one regional. Prior to becoming a head coach, Johnson worked with two fantastic head coaches in Paul Frye at Elder High School in Cincinnati, Ohio from 1989-1992 and Jim East at Merrillville High School in Merrillville, Indiana from 1992-1994. While as an assistant under these two great coaches, Coach Johnson was a part of three sectional and two regional championships. Coach Johnson is also fortunate to gain knowledge and ideas from his brother, Mark Johnson, head coach at South Bend Riley who has won over 300 games and multiple sectional and regional championships. Heading into the 2010 sectionals, the Spartans were 17-4. Coach Johnson has an overall record of 224-128.


Eric Thompson

Peru - District I

Eric ThompsonAfter one year at LaVille High School, Thompson has spent the past eight years at Peru. His teams are recognized for how hard they play and compete. Peru has been Mid-Indiana Conference Champion in both 2006 and 2010 and Sectional Champions in 2008 and 2009. This past season Thompson led Peru to a 19-2 record and finished fourth state-wide in defensive average (40.26 PPG). Coach, you had a great year.


Brian Barber

Danville - District II

Brian BarberCoach Barber began his varsity coaching career at Riverton Parke before moving to Danville for the past 11 seasons. He has led his teams to a winning season every year (14) as head coach. His teams have won eight conference, three sectionals, two Hendricks County and one regional title. His career coaching record is 224-90. Congratulation coach, you have had a great career.


Steve Lynch

Mt. Vernon (Fortville) - District II

Steve LynchSteve Lynch just completed his fourth season at Mt. Vernon High School at Fortville. Lynch has accumulated a 59-28 record during his tenure with the Marauders. He has coached at the high school and collegiate level over the past 18 years. The Marauders have won the last two Hoosier Heritage Conference Championships, were the 2009 City Securities Hall of Fame Champions, and finished the season ranked 5th in the IBCA all class poll. Coach, congratulations on a successful season.


Dave Benter

Brownstown Central - District III

Dave BenterCoach Benter recently concluded his 12th season at Brownstown Central where his teams have gone 191-95. During his 12 years, Brownstown has had nine straight winning seasons, won four sectionals, two regionals, two semistates, and has won four Mid-Southern Conference championships. The current Braves were 24-0 after 2010 sectional play. Dave is a graduate of Brownstown Central High School and Hanover College and resides with his wife Kristy and their two children Katherine and Jack.


Matt Wadsworth

North Posey - District III

Matt WadsworthMatt Wadsworth is a 2002 Southern Illinois graduate. While at SIU, Wadworth served as student manager for head coach, Bruce Weber and his assistants, current Purdue coach Matt Painter and current University of Southern Indiana coach Rodney Watson.

Wadsworth’s coaching career began with the guidance of Bill Bowen at Hamilton Heights High School. He has also served as the boys’ varsity coach at Riverton Parke High School. This season, in his second year as coach of North Posey, he led the Vikings to the most victories in a single season 18-2. He has a two year 27-14 won-loss record at North Posey. Coach, congratulation on a great season.
