Patty Broderick

Patty is a graduate of Indiana University –Purdue University at Indianapolis. She began her officiating career in 1972, while coaching grade school basketball. She has extensive high school, college, international and WNBA professional basketball officiating experience. Patty officiated the Indiana High School basketball State Finals in 1982 and 1983. She also worked four NCAA Women’s Final Fours from 1986-1992.

Patty became the first woman to officiate women’s basketball at the Pan Am Games in 1987 and was one of only two American officials who worked at the Seoul Olympics in 1988. In 1988, Patty was the Inaugural Winner of the Naismith Female Basketball Official of the Year Award.

Patty has served as the Big Ten’s Coordinator of women’s basketball officials since 1987. She resides in Indianapolis. Her daughter Jamie, graduated from Denver University and was a member of the School basketball team.
