Boys' Coaches of the Year

 
 
 

Jason Ridge

Northridge – District I

Jason RidgeCoach Ridge began his coaching career as an assistant at Wapahani High School under Coach Chris Benedict. He was an assistant at Columbia City High School from 1997-2003. His first head coaching position was at South Adams High School. While at South Adams, he had a record of 20-41. In 2006, he moved to Northridge High School where he has compiled a record of 46-19 over three seasons. He was the 2009 Northern Lakes Conference Coach of the Year after winning the first outright conference championship in school history. His Raiders went 20-0 during the regular season and became only the fifth team in Elkhart County history to go undefeated.


Marty Beasley

Carroll (Allen) – District I

Marty BeasleyCoach Beasley has just completed his 10th year as a varsity head coach. During the past four years at Carroll High School in Fort Wayne, he has led the Chargers to a sectional title in 2007 and has just completed back to back NHC conference Championships. His first six years as a head coach, he was at Garrett High School where his teams won two NECC conference championships, two NECC conference tournament championships, and a regional crown in 2004. Coach Beasley is a graduate of Columbia City High School (1989) and Taylor University (1993). He was an assistant at Hamilton Heights, Columbus East and Columbia City prior to becoming a head coach. The Chargers were 15-3 going into the state tournament.


Shaun Busick

Zionsville – District II

Shaun BusickCoach Shaun Busick, a 1990 Grace College graduate, is in his third season as head man at Zionsville Community High School. The 2008-2009 season marked his 16 varsity season. Prior to his arrival at Zionsville, he had coaching stops at Argos, North Knox, Bellmont and Crown Point. Coach Busick picked up his 200th career victory this season and his teams have won four conference championships, five sectionals, one regional and one semi-state. His Bellmont Braves were the 3A State Runners-Up in 2004. At Zionsville, Coach Busick and his staff have put together a strong feeder program that extends down to the kindergarten level. He and his staff are actively involved year-round in developing a total program. Coach Busick and his wife, Cathleen, are both English teachers at Zionsville.


Craig Teagle

Jay Co. – District II

Craign TeagleCraig Teagle is in his 11th year as head coach at Jay County High School. Coach Teagle has a 152 – 97 record in his 11 seasons with the Patriots. During Coach Teagles’ tenure Jay County has won four sectionals and been an elite eight team twice. The also made a state championship runner-up appearance in 2006. Jay County has won 15 or more games six years in a row.


Tom Weeks

Princeton – District III

Coach Weeks is in his fourth season as the Tigers head coach. This season, the Tigers are 27-0 as they enter the semi-state. Weeks has an overall 61-37 win loss record.


Mike Saylor

Terre Haute South – District III

Mike SaylorCoach Saylor is a graduate of Indiana State University where he played for former NCAA Division 1 Coach of the Year Bill Hodges and Indiana Basketball Hall of Famer Dave Schellhase. He was an assistant on Ron Green’s ISU staff, coached at the Universidad Auto De Nuevo Leon in Monterrey Mexico and was an assistant to Hall of Fame Coach Pat Rady before being named the Head Coach at Terre Haute South in 2004. He has guided the Braves to a first ever 4 A Final Four appearance and has had three 18 plus winning seasons during the past five years. Heading into the sectionals the Braves are 18-3 and Coach Saylor is currently 74-46 as a head coach.
