Girls' Coaches of the Year

 
 
 

Mark Redding

Fort Wayne Elmhurst – District I

Mark ReddingCoach Redding was an assistant boys' and assistant girls' coach before becoming the head girls' coach at Fort Wayne Elmhurst in 1995. He holds a Bachelor and Master’s degree in education from Indiana Wesleyan University and Indiana Purdue at Fort Wayne as well as a degree in finance and real estate form Indiana University. He led the Trojans to back to back Summit Athletic Conference Titles in 2008 and 2009, 3A sectional titles in 1999, 2003, back to back sectional titles in 2008-2009, and regional championships in 1999 and 2009 plus a 2009 semi-state crown and the 2009 3A state championship.




Steve Proctor

Fairfield – District I

Steve ProctorCoach Proctor has been an Assistant Coach on the college and high school levels. He was also the Head Coach at Dodge City Community College for one season. For the past 5 years Coach Proctor has led the Falcons to a 78-37 record. This past season Fairfield was 21-6 and Sectional Champions.




Stan Benge

Ben Davis – District II

Stan BengeIn his 24 seasons as head coach of the Ben Davis Lady Giants, Coach Benge has won 77 per cent of his games (438-136). His Lady Giants have won seven Marion County titles, eight MIC Conference Championships, 20 Sectionals, 10 regionals, three semi states and back to back 4A state championships in 2000 and 2001, as well as an undefeated 2009 state crown at 30-0. Coach Benge has won numerous Coach of the Year Awards and was previously IBCA District Coach of the Year in 1990 and 1992. This past season the Lady Giants have been nationally ranked #1 by USA Today.




Curt Benge

Plainfield – District II

Curt BengeCoach Benge has a BS degree from Marian College and earned his MS degree from Indiana Wesleyan. He just completed his 14th season as Coach of the Lady Quakers. During this time the Lady Quakers have won five Hendricks County Championships, seven Mid State Conference Championships, four Sectionals and one Regional championship. His overall won-loss record is 223-95. This past season the Lady Quakers were one of the most improved teams in the state, improving from a 12-11 record in 2007-08 to a 19-2 (4A), #5 ranking in 2008-09.




Jason Lane

Vincennes Lincoln – District III

Jason LaneCoach Lane has coached boys' and girls' elementary basketball and has been a boys' and girls' assistant at the high school level. For the past four seasons as varsity coach, Lane has led the Alices to a 65-27 record. The Alices were back to back sectional champions in 2008 and 2009 and a 2008 regional champion.

Coach Lane was selected ICGSA and HBCA District Coach of the Year in 2008. This past season the Alices finished the season 20-3 and were regional runner-up.




Mark Monroe

Gibson Southern – District III

Mark MonroeCoach Monroe is a 1980 graduate of Indiana State University and earned his MS in 1985. He has just completed his 28th year of teaching and coaching in the South Gibson School Corporation. Coach Monroe coached eighth grade boys and JV boys before becoming the Varsity Girls' Coach. He has led the Titans to back to back to back sectional championships 2007-08-09. They were 2008-2009 PAC Conference Champions and the 2008-2009 Toyota Classic Champions. This season Coach Monroe led the Titans to a 22-2 record and they were regional runner-up.
