Bob Adams – District I

Bob AdamsBob is a graduate of Manchester College and Ball State University. He has covered Adams County sports and has been a sports writer for the Berne Tri Weekly news since 2001. Since 1996 he has written a column covering Indiana high School Basketball called “Below the Rim” and since 1998 he has been a sportscaster for WZBD-FM 92.7 broadcasting boys' and girls' basketball games, including numerous state finals.

For the past eight years he has co-hosted a sports show called “Hitzer Stoves High School Sports Weekly” which covers sports in Adams and Wells Counties. Bob has published three books; “Hoosier High School Basketball”, Popcorn and Gym Shoes”, and More Popcorn and Gym Shoes”. The latter two are about old Indiana High School Gyms. He has just completed an Indiana High School Basketball CD that includes info on all boys' and girls’ teams, coaches, records and much more. Bob, thanks for your contributions to Indiana High School basketball.


Leigh Evans – District II

Leigh EvansLeigh is a graduate of Indiana State University and Castle High School. He has been a teacher for 19 years and coached his middle school teams to over 100 wins. Leigh is the creator of HickoryHusker.com and has served as its' editor and publisher since 1998. He is currently working on compiling the Hickory Husker Book of Indiana High School Basketball Records. Leigh and his wife have two children, Kailey and Bailey. Leigh, thanks for all you do for Indiana High School Basketball.


Greg Bell – District II

Greg BellGreg is a native of Buffalo, New York and a graduate of Butler Univeristy with a BS in Radio and TV. He has covered high school sports in Grant and Shelby counties. He is currently the Sports Director at WIOU-WZWZ and has covered high school sports in Howard county for the past 25 years.

Greg has received the IHSAA Media Distinguished Service Award, Associated Press Top Play by Play Announcer Award and is a member of the state wrestling Hall of Fame. He has covered high school basketball for 33 years, calling over 1500 games. Thanks Greg, for your dedication to high school basketball during your career.


Bob Boyles – District III

Bob BoylesBob began his broadcasting career in 1964 at WKQV in Sullivan, covering the Golden Aces. From 1968-2008, Bob has broadcast around 3000 boys and girls sporting events, including 25 straight years at the boy’s state finals from 1973-1998. During his forty years at WITZ Radio in Jasper, he has broadcast games for Jasper, Forest Park, Southridge (including their 1985 and 1986 tournament runs), Northeast Dubois and Loogootee (including their state tournament run in 1975).

Bob has also received the Marv Bates Award from the Indiana State Sportswriters and Sportscaster Association. From 1966-68, Bob served in the military, pulling duty in Thailand assisting media traveling from the United States to Southeast Asia to cover the war in Vietnam and Cambodia. Bob, thanks for all you have done for high school basketball.


John Harrell – District III

John HarrellJohn is a graduate of Huntington High School and Huntington College. He was a sports writer in Huntington and Fort Wayne before joining the Bloomington Herald Times Sports Department where he has been the Executive Sports Editor since 1980. In 1980 John began supplying Jeff Sagarin with Indiana basketball and football scores for his rating system. In December of 2000, Harrell created JohnHarrell.net, a website devoted to Indiana High School football and basketball. John has edited numerous publications, including “Beyond the Brink with Indiana” (1987) and “Bob Hammel’s Indiana Basketball” (1994). He has received the IHSAA Distinguished Media Service Award in 1995 and in 2006 he was inducted into the Indiana Sportswriter’s and Broadcaster’s Hall of Fame. John, thanks for all you do for High School Basketball.


Jeff Sagarin – District III

Jeff SagarinJeff is a native of New Rochelle, NY and has been providing power ratings and player ratings to “USA Today” since 1985. He is mathematics’ graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT- 1970) and earned an MBA from Indiana University in 1983. Sagarin has applied his unique ranking system to college football and basketball, major league baseball, the NFL, the NBA, NASCAR and several other sports. Since 1984, Sagarin has supplied the NCAA College Basketball selection committee, at its request, his latest ranking during the March Madness tournament selection process. In 1998, his football ratings became an official part of the Bowl Championship Series BCS team selection process. Since 1981 with the help of John Harrell of the Bloomington Herald-Times he has been rating all Indiana High School football and basketball teams.

In 1957 as a fourth grader, Jeff read John R. Tunis great book “Yea Wildcats” about Indiana High School Basketball and has found it kind of a neat full circle to have ended up rating Indiana High School basketball teams for real during the past 28 years. Jeff thanks for all you do for high school basketball.
