Roger DickinsonSchool is back in session so the count down is on until the basketball season is underway. The 2008-2009 basketball season promises to be another exiting year, as the king of Indiana sports makes the cold winter weather a time to enjoy rather than dread.

Basketball fans are encouraged to mark their calendar for December 29 & 30. The City Securities Hall of Fame Classic will be held at the largest and finest school gymnasium in the world. The Classic has become known as the premiere tournament in the state of Indiana. The Hall of Fame, along with City Securities, are glad to be the sponsors of the annual shootout.

The pairings for the tournament are given below and you will note that each team is highly regarded in the Hoosier State. Coaches are encouraged to bring their entire team to the event, as one prepares for the latter half of the season.

Basketball fans are encouraged to purchase tickets from one of the participating schools, as the schools are selling tickets for $10.00 for the entire day. Tickets at the door will be $10.00 for the morning session and a like amount for the evening session.

Coaches that are looking ahead to the 2009-2010 campaign, and being one of the state's better teams, are encouraged to apply for the 2009 tournament. Applications, available from the Hall of Fame, and team statistics should be submitted to the Hall of Fame during the month of January 2009.

Girls' Tournament: December 29, 2008 New Castle Fieldhouse
10:00 A.M. – Ben Davis vs Connersville
12:00 Noon – Oak Hill vs Wawasee
6:00 P.M. – Consolation Game
8:00 P.M – Championship Game

Boys' Tournament: December 30, 2008 New Castle Fieldhouse
10:00 A.M. – Bluffton vs Tipton
12:00 Noon – Franklin Central vs Lafayette Jeff
6:00 P.M. – Consolation Game
8:00 P.M. – Championship Game

Contact can be made with the Hall of Fame by calling 765-529-1891, or emailing roger@hoopshall.com.

My best wishes go with each coach and school for a successful basketball season.
