You have probably read by now which high school basketball teams have been selected to participate in the 2006 City Securities Hall of Fame Classic. This article was written prior to the final selection of the teams but it is a foregone conclusion the representative schools will be among the highest ranked squads in the state for the 2006-2007 season. You are encouraged to take in all of the action on December 28 and 29 at the New Castle Field house. The girls’ teams will play the first day followed by the boys’ on the second day.

In January 2007 the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Selection Committee will begin to scout teams for the December 2007 Classic. Coaches that anticipate returning a strong group of letter winners from the 2006-2007 season are encouraged to submit an application for the tournament. The form can be acquired by using the Hall of Fame’s web site at www.hoopshall.com.

The Hall of Fame will sponsor a fun filled golf outing at the Chippendale Golf Course, Kokomo, on June 16. This is a laid back tournament that appeals to coaches, school people and friends of the Hall. Check with the Hall for an entry form and join the group for a day of fun and relaxation.

You are encouraged to visit the Hall of Fame and view the “only” statewide high school basketball hall of fame in the world. Search the Hall and learn what memorabilia is on display from you high school or representing your favorite team. There is something at the Hall that every fan can identify with and a trip to the Hall for your players would help them more fully appreciate why basketball fans from around the world know about basketball in the Hoosier State.
