IBCA Names Aikman Special Projects Coordinator

Former Indiana All-Star game director Patrick (Pat) Aikman has been named Special Projects Coordinator for the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association, according to Steve Witty, IBCA Executive Director. Pat began his duties January 1, 2008.

Aikman was Director of Public Relations at DePauw University before joining the Indianapolis Star as promotion coordinator and Indiana-Kentucky All-Star game director in 1988.

Securing corporate sponsorships for the IBCA as well as developing new programs and events are among Aikman’s new duties. Additional assignments include developing revenue producing ideas for the IBCA website and securing financial support for the organization’s scholarship program that each year makes grants to 40 deserving student-athletes.

A graduate of Dana High School (now South Vermillion), Aikman graduated from DePauw University with a history major and did graduate work in journalism at IU.

“The IBCA is pleased that Pat has agreed to come on board,” Witty said. “His expertise and wealth of knowledge will be a valuable asset to our organization as the IBCA continues to grow and prosper.”
