A number of changes and additions have been made in the leadership of the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association for 2024-25.
Marty Johnson, Tom Beach and Steve Witty remain in their respective roles as executive director, associate executive director/chief operating officer and executive director emeritus. Michael Adams of Evansville Reitz and Kaley May of Danville now are in their second year of respective three-year terms as president and president-elect. Coach Adams is the director of the boys’ Top 100 Showcase, and Coach May is chair of the IBCA mentor program.
Also, the following people are continuing in these IBCA roles: Mike Broughton, games director, Indiana All-Stars; Beth DeVinney, Junior All-Star director; Brandon Bradley, chairman, Girls’ Junior All-Star selection committee; Todd Howard, director of the All-Star Shootout; Kristi Sigler, Jennings County, Girls’ Top 100 Showcase director; Renee Turpa, chair of membership and clinic, and liaison to the National High School Basketball Coaches Association; Doug Springer, Northridge, director of Future Head Coaches program and Girls’ All-State/poll committee chairman; David Wood, Boys’ Top 100 Showcase on-court director and Boys’ All-State/poll committee chairman; Gene Milner, website coordinator, job placement director and Record Book publisher, and Pat McKee, director of special projects.
New people adding to IBCA efforts are Lisa Finn, Cathedral, Girls’ Top 100 Showcase on-court director; Brandon Ramsey, chairman of Boys’ Junior All-Star selection committee; Debbie Smiley, supervisor for girls’ All-Star Shootout and coordinator of Girls’ Player/Team of the Week; Kip Staggs, director of Future Head Coaches program and coordinator of Boys’ Player/Team of the Week; and Bill Zych, Futures Games director.
Six district representatives are in their first year of three-year terms that conclude July 31, 2027. They are Will Coatie of Elkhart, Lenny Krebs of Warsaw, Andy Weaver of Plainfield, Brian Satterfield of Hamilton Southeastern, Fonso White of Floyd Central and Mark Hurt of Mooresville.
In addition, two district representatives are completing terms of former coaches who stepped down from their positions. Phil Brackmann of Fort Wayne Concordia fills a boys’ District 1 spot that had been held by Ryan Abbott, formerly of Carroll (Fort Wayne). Also, Mickey Hosier of Alexandria fills a girls’ District 2 spot that had been held by Jeff Liddick of Eastbrook. Terms for Brackmann and Hosier end in July 2025.
There are 10 returning district representatives in 2024-25. District reps whose terms end in July 2025 are Carrie Shappell of Leo, Mark Detweiler of Delta, Paul Ferguson of Columbus North and Jason Simpson of Greensburg. District reps whose terms end in July 2026 are Jordan Heckard of LaPorte, Kelly Kratz of Valparaiso, Rich Schelsky of Parke Heritage, Lisa Finn of Cathedral, Todd Woelfle of Terre Haute North and Kyle Brasher of Gibson Southern.
